The Vice Chancellor of the Federal University Oye – Ekiti, Professor Isaac Uzoma Asuzu has commissioned and decorated nine newly promoted senior security officers of the institution.

In a brief but colourful ceremony in his conference room, the vice chancellor reminded the privileged officers that every promotion comes with additional responsibility and as such challenged them to live up to the new responsibilities that come with their new ranks, saying ”hardwork will always attract reward”.
Professor Asuzu reiterated the important role the unit plays in the university, describing it as indispensible. He however frowned at the attitudes of some of the officers towards students. The Vice chancellor said he has reports about some unpleasant activities of a few of the officers especially towards students. The vice chancellor challenged them to strive to be civil in their dealings with students, staff and visitors as front office staff of the institution. On the reported manhandling of students, the vice chancellor cautioned the security operatives against a reoccurrence, reminding them of the fact that staff exist because of the students.
Responding to an earlier request by head of the security unit, Akin Fatoye on the need for more manpower, Professor Asuzu said that would be done as soon as practicable, hinting he would prefer to start with non-permanent staff among the security unit.
Earlier, head of FUOYE security unit, Akin Fatoye applauded Professor for the unequalled support the unit has been enjoying. The senior security officer went down memory lane highlighting when he was the sole staff of the unit and had only volunteers to assist through the present enviable status of the unit. He acknowledged the immeasurable support of the vice chancellor in the transformation of the unit while pledging the continued commitment of his men to duty assuring that he was going to look into those areas the vice chancellor complained about with a view to turning a new leaf.
SSO, Mr. Akin Fatoye addressing the vice chancellor at the event.
Mr Fatoye passionately appealed to the vice chancellor to personally supervise the recruitment of the proposed new intakes into the unit to ensure that experienced and agile officers are brought on-board.
