Vice-Chancellor Federal University Oye-Ekiti, Prof. Kayode Soremekun, has reiterated his administration’s readiness to maintain links with the university’s alumni association. He made the disclosure recently in his office while addressing the executive members of the association.
The university don, who welcomed the students back home to their alma mater, noted that one of the greatest strengths of any university around the globe is the existence of a functional alumni network. He added that it has become easier for one to keep in touch with ones alma mater especially with the advancement in the world of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and social media platforms for easy and quick access to the institution’s activities.
He equally charged the exco of the association to explore various avenues of tapping into these contemporary technologies with a view to ensuring the alumni association sustains a reliable and viable network.
Professor Soremekun further promised to create an internal alumni desk so that the graduating students can easily get clarifications whenever the need arises.
The Registrar, Mr Daniel Adeyemo, gave the assurance that the graduands would be mobilised as soon as the National Youth service Corp (NYSC) releases the list of those qualified for the national scheme.
Earlier in the meeting, the president of the alumni, Mr. Arogundade T. E. used the medium to formally welcome the new vice-chancellor to his new assignment and pledged the association’s readiness to key into the institution’s corporate goal of establishing and maintaining external links for mutual benefits.
