The Vice-Chancellor Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE), Professor Kayode Soremekun, has led a delegation of the Principal Officers on a courtesy visit to the Chancellor of the institution, His Royal Majesty Attah Michael Ameh Oboni II, the Attah of Igala Kingdom, in his palace at Idah in Kogi State.

Addressing the Chancellor alongside his chiefs-in-council, Professor Soremekun stated that he was in the palace to familiarize with and seek counsel from the Royal Father on how best to move FUOYE forward. Counting on the reference of the Chancellor, the Vice-Chancellor said the young institution would tap from vast contacts of the monarch. He maintained that accidental the appointment of the Attah of Igala as Chancellor of FUOYE was not an accident as the institution   is in dire need of distinguished personalities that would help accelerate growth in view of the university’s peculiarities. Professor Soremekun assured the Chancellor of a harmonious working relationship and an open-door administration for quality advice from the monarch to assist the budding university.

Responding, the Chancellor applauded the visit and expressed his readiness to give his best towards the growth and development of FUOYE. The monarch hinted that he had already been briefed by the immediate past Vice-Chancellor, Professor Isaac Asuzu, on the problems and the peculiarities of FUOYE; as such he would do everything within his power to support the institution.

The Attah of Igala, who described his appointment as Chancellor as a call to national service, said he would work hard to justify the confidence reposed in him. He promised to make use of his vast national and international contacts towards the development of the university. According to the monarch, he would be paying a visit to FUOYE to get on the spot assessment of the problems of the institution but was however quick to mention that he was ready to be called upon to assist where and when necessary.

On the Vice-Chancellor’s entourage were the Deputy Vice Chancellor, Professor Raphael Omolehin Ajayi, the Registrar, Mr. Daniel Adeyemo, as well as some staff of the university.
