FUOYE UNFOLDS A 5-YEAR STRATEGIC

The Federal University Oye Ekiti has formerly unveiled its strategic blueprint to staff stating why it is necessary for units and departments of the institution to key into the plan. This was made known at a one day workshop anchored by the Faculty of Agriculture, department of Animal science.

The five- year Strategic Plan seminar was delivered by Prof. Adeolu Aganga, Head of Ikole Campus of FUOYE. She revealed the fundamental issues involved in developing an institution or corporate identity which she stated are very strategic and should not be toyed with.

According to her, no successful identity can be developed without a clear understanding of the mission, vision and strategies for achieving them. And once a strategic foundation has been established, an institution should be prepared to approach the issue of its brand identity.

In revealing the various high  level goals and outlining the specific tactics that will be implemented to accomplish them, Prof Aganga stated that ‘the five -year strategic plan will provide a high level framework to guide, structure; deliver and direct the institutional services and activities.

She noted that for FUOYE to achieve excellence, Quality Assurance must not be neglected. According to her “Quality Assurance’, (QA), is the main pillar of any business. Whatever the business, either finance or storage facility or service, quality is the most important aspect which will affect the level of success. Being an entrepreneur, one should never compromise with the quality aspect.

It therefore follows that the popularity of your product or service will be enhanced only by constantly upholding quality as your cardinal crusade. If we are going to achieve global excellence in FUOYE, we should not go to teach our students using cell phones like some of our lecturers, currently do. Instead, we should make use of projectors; we must also advocate robust interaction among students, staff and alumni bodies in order to boost the academic experience of all stakeholders, and encourage collaborations among departments and campuses - between our university and other institutions of higher learning in order to enact astute knowledge economy among academic communities, she concluded.
