…as VC tasks staff on discipline, positive attitude to work

Not less than 100 staff members of the Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE)have benefitted from special training on digital skills acquisition scheme organized by the Digital Bridge Institute (DBI) in conjunction with FUOYE to improve the ICT skills of the University staff.
Funded by the Federal Government, the ICT training is an initiative of the Nigerian Communication Commission (NCC) which is aimed at providing necessary ICT skills for workers in the tertiary institutions.
It is also a product of the painstaking efforts made by the Vice-Chancellor of the institution, Prof. Abayomi Sunday Fasina , and his management to add value to the system.
Beneficiaries of the programme include some teaching and non-teaching staff members of the Ivory Tower who enjoyed two sets of the training which are training on DISCET for non-teaching staff and training on Data Analysis for lecturers.

Temitope, Mr. Popoola and FUOYE’s Dr. Adedayo Sobowale are facilitators who began the five day practical training for the beneficiaries on Monday, June 19, 2023 at the FUOYE ICT Centre located in Oye-Ekiti, Ekiti State, the University’s host community.
At the opening ceremony to flag off the training, Prof Fasina enjoined the beneficiaries to make good use of the opportunity not only for personal improvement but also in adding value to the system.
Charging the staff members on excellence, the VC said: “Let us be disciplined in what we are doing please don’t play with your job. We are making plans to get opportunities for our university.
We are organizing training to improve personnel and we want you to use this training to do the best for the institution. Let us cooperate with management to make the varsity better.
We are interested in quality service delivery and not eye services. We are interested in improving the productivity of staff and we need your cooperation.
In the same vein we got donation of internet broadband facilities worth 400 million from NCC.
The training we are getting is for use to make sure the system improve . If you see opportunities for training let us know. July 11 and July 14 is Retreat for Deans and HODs to further motivate staff members to add value to the system. We enjoin Deans and HODs to take ownership of your departments and faculties.
I charge the participants to make good use of this opportunity. Facilitators should make the training practical for the participants .
