Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE) is presenting a seasoned political scientist and accomplished scholar, Professor Azeez Olusola Olaniyan as the inaugural lecturer for the University’s 11th inaugural lecture series scheduled to hold on August 15, 2023.
The Vice-Chancellor of the Institution, Professor Sunday Abayomi Fasina is the chief host receiving distinguished guests at the occasion.
FUOYE began the excellent culture of promoting scholarship with inaugural lectures showcasing accomplished and seasoned scholars who have attained the peak of their career and blazed the trail in 2019 with the maiden inaugural lecture given by Prof. Cecilia Olufunke Akintayo, an erudite professor of Industrial Chemistry. This was followed same year with a second inaugural lecture by Nigeria’s first professor of Dance,Prof. Rasaki Ojo Bakare, a Professor of Dance and Performance Aesthetics at the FUOYE Department of Theatre and Media Arts just as the duo of academic giants, Professor J. Shola Omotola, a Professor of Comparative Politics from the Faculty of Social Sciences and Prof. Mojisola Oyarekua, Professor of Food Science and Technology from the Faculty of Agriculture presented the third and fourth inaugural lectures.
Other distinguished scholars who have presented subsequent inaugural lectures included Prof. Emmanuel Olumayede, Prof. Olugbenga Amu, an astute professor of Civil Engineering of the Faculty of Engineering, Prof. Tajudeen Bolanle Opoola , an accomplished Linquistics scholar from the Arts Faculty, Prof. Abiodun Ajiboye, another seasoned scientist from the Faculty of Science, Prof. Bukola Bolaji and Prof. Babatunde Afolabi, a Professor of Finance and seasoned banker of the Faculty of Management Sciences who presented the 10th inaugural lecture.
Each of the inaugural lectures have proven to be evidence of thorough research which provides solutions to problems and gives insights into further research endeavours.
Prof. Olaniyan”s forthcoming inaugural lecture, entitled: “NIgeria and the undying spirit of separatism”, promises to be highly enlightening and illuminating as it would analyze Nigeria’s political realities with a special focus on our ethnocentric tendencies, besides providing recommendations for solving some of our political problems.
