Barely three years after a Professor of Industrial and Macromolecular Chemistry, Prof. Olayide Lawal successfully produced a drug for the cure of Covid 19, another milestone in research endeavour has been recorded by Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE) .

This time, it was the Department of Mechatronics, under the supervision of Prof. Adefemi A Adekunle which launched an electric vehicle constructed by a doctorate candidate, Engr. Peter Osadola, who defended his thesis with the construction of the electric car. It was indeed an heartwarming news for the entire University community on December 14, 2023 when the news frittered in that the department had launched a prototype of an electric car.

The cheery news was broken by the Supervisor of the doctorate candidate, Prof. Adekunle. He had sent the following message on the staff social media groups “ The road to Technical Advancement doesn’t start in a day, but gradually. Appreciation to God Almighty, as Mechatronics Engineering Department of FUOYE launches her Electric Vehicle on the 14th of December 2023, when Engr. Peter Osasona now Dr. Peter Osasona defended his PhD Supervised by Prof. A. A. Adekunle. Congratulations to all Panel Members, Prof Babatope Alabadan, Dr. Omodunbi, Dr. Uguru-Okorie, Prof. A.S Onawumi, the Department, Faculty of Engineering, PgSchool and Fuoye at large. This is the Lord’s project, it shall continue to flourish.
“Furthermore, the Department had launched a Solar Power Robotic Seed planter under the Supervision of Professor Adekunle a day before that of the Electric Vehicle. Indeed Fuoye is going places with respect to Innovation”.
“The Lord has been the Pilot of our achievements in the field of Mechatronics Engineering at Federal University Oye Ekiti, Ekiti State. A New Solar powered Robotic Seed Planter was launched when another Master degree graduate of Mechatronics Engineering was produced by me on 13/12/2023. Appreciation to the Vice Chancellor, Prof. A. S. Fasina and his entire management team for the enabling environment provided.
“ We appreciate Prof. A. S. Onawumi, a Governing Council Member of LAUTECH and a renown Professor of Mechanical Engineering , who was the External Examiner. Dr. C. Fapohunda, the PG Representative, Dr. Tayo Olaniyan, the Internal/External, Dr. Daniel Uguru-Okorie, HOD Mechatronics and my humble self, Professor A. A. Adekunle the Supervisor, were all in attendance. Congratulations to Engr. Felix Ayanniran for that beautiful presentation. I will never forget the Father of Mechatronics, my Mentor, Late Engr. Professor. Sam B. Adejuyigbe, I am keeping to the promise that I made at your graveyard that you shall be replicated in folds. God is helping us as your work lives on.
