Acting Vice-Chancellor of Federal University Oye Ekiti (FUOYE), Ekiti State, Nigeria, Prof. Olubunmi Shittu has felicitated with Muslim faithful of the university on the occasion of Eid-ul-Mawlid —the celebration of the birth of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him), urging them to emulate the Prophet’s exemplary life of love, humility, tolerance and compassion.
Besides, he called on members of staff, students and the university community to embrace peace and unity with a view to sustaining the ongoing peace in the university as his leadership of the university remained committed to fostering peace and harmony for the growth of the university while urging them to continue to pray for FUOYE’s continued steady academic progress.
He said: “On behalf of my family, the Governing Council, Senate, members of staff, students and the university community, I congratulate the Muslim faithful in the university on the occasion of this year’s celebration of the birth of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him).
“On this occasion, I rejoice with you all and I urge you to reflect on the Prophet’s exemplary life of love, humility, tolerance and compassion with a view to bringing it to bear on FUOYE as the university maintains its steady growth and progress among the comity of universities in Nigeria and the Sub-Sahara Africa.
“We will continue to remain focus and be committed to fostering peace and harmony to sustain academic growth and development in our university.
“Once again, I congratulate you all and happy celebrations.”Eid-ul-Mawlid is an annual Islamic celebration being observed globally to honour the birth of Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him).
