The Bursary Department of the Federal University Oye Ekiti, Ekiti State, Nigeria marked the year 2023 in grand style as it threw the university into a frenzy of excitement with a “unity party” held on the campus for its members and other well- wishers.
The atmosphere was charged with sonorous music amidst glitz and pageantry as members and other invitees took turn to dance in admiration of their Boss, the Bursar of the university, Mrs. Adebolanle Debo-Ajaguna.
Their joyful moment was to commemorate the end-of-the-year get-together party, thanking their creator for a successful year.
The party, according to the Local Organizing Chairperson and Deputy Bursar, Mrs.Racheal Adeniyi Ajayi, was organized to demonstrate commitment of the department to unity, love and above all, equilibrium among members.
She said: “I want to urge every one of you to embrace love, this is the major factor that would ensure efficiency and productivity.
Earlier in her opening remarks, the Bursar of the fastest-growing university, Mrs. Adebolanle Adekemisola Debo-Ajagunna welcomed members of the department and other well-wishers to the party while congratulating three members of staff in the department who had been promoted to the rank of Deputy Bursar.
In her words: “l am happy to inform you that the Trio of Dr. Efuntade Alani, Mr. Vincent, and Mr. Ambali has been promoted to the rank of Deputy Bursar in the university.
“God loves us in this department that’s why we are increasing, so many staff were promoted viz; Mr. Jude has been promoted to the position of a Chief Accountant thus, we have every cause to appreciate our God.”
However, she urged every member of staff who. has stepped on each other’s toes should forgive one another, saying there was no way “we will not step on toes in the cause of discharging our tasks. To err is human but to forgive is divine.”
The Bursar went on: “This time last year we encountered many challenges in this department but we thank God that all crisis has been surmounted and there is total peace in the department.
“I appreciate every one of you for your contribution to the development of the department.”
Also, Speaking at the event, Guest speaker, Dr. (Mrs) Olayisade Ayodeji, the head of Accounts at the Federal Teaching Hospital, Ido-Ekiti delivered a paper on “Ethical Conduct for Sustainability in Accounting and Navigating Challenges in a Transformative Era in our institutions.”
The guest speaker, who was represented by Dr. Ahmed Kolawole Akande said that accounting is a dynamic yardstick being guided by moral conduct, playing a pivotal role in ensuring not only the financial health of an organization but also the sustainability of the organization.
Dr. Ayodeji said: “As an accountant, we must adhere to standards, we must work to avoid conflict of interest as a good accountant must not compromise professional judgment and objectivity and also be guided in the profession.”
On the occasion were the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, (Administration ), Professor Bolanle Tajudeen Opoola, Mr. Sunday Akinkunmi, who stood in for the university Registrar, Mr. Mufutau Ibrahim and many other dignitaries.
The highlight of the event was the presentation of awards to deserving staff in the department.
The most punctual staff of the year was Mr. Bolaji James while the most dedicated staff of the year was Mr. Haavaan Boniface Terngu. and the Most Corporate Staff of the Year was Mrs. Owoeye Folayemi, the Most Friendly Staff was Mr.Njim Tongkuka and the award of the Staff of the Year was Mr. Owolabi Michael Tunde.
