The atmosphere was glittering, suggesting festivities and celebrations. One by one, friends and family members who had earlier been invited began to troop in. Food caterer stepped into one corner, arranging food and drinks with some people salivating. It was a day of joy and thanksgiving.
It was the birth anniversary of the University Librarian of the Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE), Dr. Olajide Olabode, who felt touched by the faithfulness of God over his life, hence, decided to appreciate God by feasting friends and family members on the occasion.

Indeed, It was a glamorous and memorable occasion as members of staff of the University Library came out in large numbers to celebrate their amiable boss in grand style.
The birthday celebration, which was held at the Library Conference Room, was attended by some members of the university management, including the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, (Academics), Professor Babatunde Joshua Omotosho, and the University Bursar, Dr. Adebolanle Debo-Ajagunna
The event began with an opening prayer, followed by a short exhortation delivered by Professor Omotosho.
In his remarks, The Deputy Vice Chancellor ( Academics), Professor Omotosho thanked God for the life of the celebrant, describing him as a brother, father, friend and colleague.
“It is good to give thanks unto the Lord, for this is the will of God. We thank God for the life of our brother, a father, friend and colleague. It has pleased the Lord to give you the grace to witness another birthday. The One who has brought you this far will not leave you nor forsake you, in Jesus’ name.”, he prayed.
The celebration continued with tributes from family members and staff of the University Library, who spoke warmly about the celebrant and his impact on those around him.

His beautiful wife, Engr. Mrs. Favour Olajide, described her husband as her “all-time gist partner” while appreciating him for his dedication to the family.
“Happy birthday to my husband and my all-time gist partner. Thank you for all you do for the family.” UL’s wife eulogized.
Also speaking at the august event, Mrs. Omolola Ogunleye, the E-Librarian, congratulated the celebrant and prayed for God’s continued protection over his life.
Several testimonies were shared about Dr. Olabode, with speakers highlighting his admirable fashion sense, hardworking nature, friendly disposition and liberal attitude.
The celebration ended with an appreciation from the University Librarian, Dr. Olajide Olabode, who expressed gratitude to members of staff of the University Library for their thoughtfulness and for organising the surprise birthday celebration.
He particularly appreciated the staff for the warm manner in which they welcomed him to the office and for making the occasion a memorable one.

The celebration ended on a joyful note, with prayers and well-wishes for the University Librarian as he begins another year of his life.
