The Vice-Chancellor, Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE), Prof. Joshua Olalekan Ogunwole, has charged students of the institution to strive for academic excellence by emulating Miss Favour Temidara Awolana, who recently won a global honour as a result of her intellectual brilliance.
Prof. Ogunwole, who spoke while unveiling Miss Awolana as a symbol of the new face of FUOYE, remarked that, as part of his transformational agenda for the university, academic excellence would regularly be showcased and celebrated.

He said, “That is the kind of story we want people to be getting from FUOYE.”
In a major international achievement, Favour Temidara Awolana, a 400-level Law student of the Federal University Oye-Ekiti, was in March this year named one of twelve recipients of the prestigious Morehead-Cain Global Fellowship, which recognises exceptional student leaders from around the world.
Valued at $100,000, the fellowship provides a fully funded, year-long global experience at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, United States, encompassing academic research, internships, international travel, and mentorship from the foundation’s network of more than 3,500 alumni in leadership positions globally.

While hosting Miss Awolana and her parents in March, Prof. Ogunwole directed the Directorate of Public Affairs and Communication (DIPAC) to mount billboards across the university’s campuses to celebrate Miss Awolana as a new face of FUOYE.
With the billboards now prominently displayed across the Oye-Ekiti and Ikole campuses, Prof. Ogunwole encouraged students to develop an uncommon passion for their studies, stressing that his administration is committed to providing a conducive atmosphere for academic excellence to thrive.
Professor Ogunwole also presented a cash award to Miss Awolana as a token of appreciation for bringing honour to the university through her academic excellence and international recognition.
The Vice-Chancellor noted that the gesture was intended to further encourage the student and inspire other FUOYE students to pursue excellence and remain committed to hard work and distinction in their academic endeavours.
