Students of the Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE) are currently excited over the facelift the incumbent Vice-Chancellor of the upwardly mobile institution, Prof. Abayomi Sunday Fasina is giving to the Ivory Tower.

As this report is being filed, several construction works to give the citadel of learning a befitting facelift are on going and these included.the lad saving of the University campus, the erection of a new gate on the University road which opens up the varsity towards the Falex area of Oye-Ekiti, perimeter fencing which is aimed at securing the landed property of the institution and new roads to allow for freer and robust movement on the campus, among others.

There is also the building of an elaborate recreational facility at the centre of the phase two area of the Oye campus. The recreational arena has chairs painted with official colours of the institution and these chairs provided places of relaxation for students.
Equally erected at the centre of the recreational area is a beautiful fountain which proudly showcases a young scholar in an academic gown. The image of the well clad scholar provides great inspiration to the many youngsters on campus who excitedly take pictures with the amazing spectacle using their cell phones to have several shots into which they smiled and grinned.
The initiative to give FUOYE a facelift has beautified the University campus, giving it a new, exciting look.
Speaking with the Reporter, the students expressed their joy and approval of the VC’s initiative and urged him to do more to beautiful their great Ivory Tower which they said they are very proud of.

Hear some of them:
“Being a new University, one would be expect that there will be scanty infrastructural development on this campus but that has not been the case. We have very encouraging infrastructure on this campus. For example, the management is building new makeshift classrooms to accommodate more students for lectures, there are more generators to power the campus, they are also opening up the campus with more roads and beautifying the place. This is a welcome development and we appreciate the VC for this,” Olamide , a student of the Business Education, says.
“I want to say that we really enjoy the facelift the VC and his management team are giving our great University. As you can see, this recreational area in phase two of the campus is a very good initiative as we can come around here any time to relax after a hectic day of lectures before we retire to our rooms for the day. This is a very good idea and we thank the VC and his team profusely for this. God will bless them, ” Iseoluwa said.

Advising the management on the new development, Temitope said she wants the VC to give shade to the area where chairs made of cement have been constructed in the recreational arena so that students wanting to relax there can visit the place anytime of the day:” right now, the hot sun is preventing many of us to visit the place and when rain comes, the same will happen. So, we please with the management to assist us to give shade to the facility especially, points where chairs have been made so we can come here to read and also to relax. We also.want.more.chairs here and a cafetaria, “she said.
Another appreciative students advised the management to assist the students to take care of the bushy area of the recreational facility so that it would look more attractive to visit.
“It is a very good intiative for the management to have put up this recreational facility. We really love it. I am sure it is still a work in progress and so we want the VC and his team to help us take care of the bushy area as bring in cafeteria and other refreshment and recreational facilities into the place if possible. We also want more chiars here although we don’t want the Chiars to be too many.”, She said.
