Prof. Fasina says that Prof. Bakare remains FUOYE’s pride and great ambassador, having blazed the trail on several fronts, as an outstanding academic and world renown artiste who has been bringing honour and glory to this great citadel of learning.

Prof. Fasina disclosed that FUOYE is blessed with great scholars, researchers and exemplary lecturers whose academic prowess has continued to produce the best of the students that passed through them.

A statement made available to FUOYE’s media team, which breaks the news of Prof. Bakare’s emergence as Nigeria’s number one Commissioner for Culture, Tourism, Arts, Heritage and Creative Economy in Nigeria, reads in part: “Ekiti State Commissioner for Arts, Culture and Creative Economy, Professor Rasaki Ojo Bakare has been unanimously elected as Chairman, Forum of Commissioners for Culture, Tourism, Arts, Heritage and Creative Economy in Nigeria. The first Professor of Choreography and Performance Aesthetics in Africa was elected at the Forum’s meeting in Abuja, and he will lead his colleagues from all the states of Nigeria for an initial term of two years.

“ The choice of Bakare is a wise and smart one. The Professor is heavily experienced within the sector, having been a practicing Creative artiste for 43 years, a researcher, lecturer, and scholar of performing arts and tourism for 34 years, a former assistant director, National Troupe of Nigeria, a former Choreographer, National Troupe of Gambia, a former Artistic Director/CEO Abuja National Carnival and one of the most internationally sought after Consultants in the creative sector.
“ In his home state, Ekiti, the 1997 Ekiti merit award winner (Culture sector) and 2013 recipient of Ekiti Cultural Ambassador, has tremendously uplifted the sector since he became the Commissioner in December 2019. It is therefore expected that he will lead his colleagues to influence policies and actions that will impact the sector all over the country.”

“Prof. Bakare has an intimidating track record of tremendous success and impact as his state’s culture manager. He brought unprecedented growth and development to the state’s Culture sector by not only reviving it by bringing his expertise and global exposure to the fore but also influencing the states government to employ young and vibrant artistes who have since been very instrumental to the unprecedented growth and development of the sector.

Other elected executive officers of the Forum that will work with Bakare are:
Prince Stan Ifeanyi Ogbuewu ( Ebonyi State Commissioner) Vice Chairman.
