    FUOYE Don, Ojo, bags FNSPS Fellowship Award

    In a glamorous and grand ceremony, Prof. Olusola Ojo, a distinguished Professor of Geology at the Federal University Oye Ekiti (FUOYE), Ekiti State, Nigeria, has bagged the Fellowship of the Nigerian Institute of Physical Sciences (FNSPS) on February 3, 2025.

    This recognition was presented at the 3rd International Conference of the Nigerian Society of Physical Sciences (NSPS) held at the university.

    The conference, themed “Physical Sciences for a Sustainable and Equitable Future: Addressing Global Challenges,” was declared opened by the Chief Host, Prof. Abayomi Sunday Fasina, Vice-Chancellor of Federal University Oye Ekiti.

    In his opening remarks, Prof. Fasina warmly welcomed all attendees and expressed gratitude to the Nigerian Society of Physical Sciences for selecting FUOYE as the venue for this prestigious event.

    He highlighted the university’s commitment to fostering academic collaborations and engagements that would drive innovation and excellence.

    Prof. Fasina lauded the former Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) Prof. Ojo for his exceptional achievements while noting that his hardwork had earned him this esteemed award.

    He encouraged the staff to serve as exemplary representatives of the university while reminding them of their important role as the backbone of the institution.

    Professor Fasina expressed confidence in their abilities, urging them to continue excelling in their respective fields.

    Meanwhile, Dr. Oladiran Johnson Abimbola, President of FNPS Nigeria, presented the fellowship award to Prof. Ojo and two other recipients: Prof. Amoka Abdelmalik from ABU Zaria and Prof. O.O. James from Kwara State University.

    While decorating Professor Ojo, Dr. Abimbola congratulated him, attributing the award to his dedication, exceptional achievements, and contributions to both the institution and the society.

    The event attracted participants from various parts of the country and included online attendees from around the world.

    Other highlights of the conference included a welcome address by Prof. A. A. Ajiboye, Dean of Science, and the keynote address was delivered by Prof. Jimoh O. Tijani from the Federal University of Technology, Minna.

    Meanwhile, FUOYENews gathered that Nigerian Society of Physical Sciences NSPS is a nonprofit and non-political organization of Physical Scientists incorporated by the Corporate Affairs Commission of Nigeria on January 9, 2019 (CAC/IT/NO 123135).

    The main objective of the Society is to promote the research and study of Physical Sciences in Nigeria and provide effective programs in its support.
