A Professor of Polymer Chemistry at the Federal University Oye Ekiti (FUOYE), Ekiti State, Nigeria, Dosu Malomo has passionately pleaded with the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu-led Federal Government to invest in the area of “Wonder-Cash crops” if the nation must readdress its over-reliance on oil for “limitless prosperity and national development.”

Specifically, Prof. Malomo called on the federal government to not only show interest but invest heavily in the “Wonder-Cash Crops” to enable rubber-base industries convert the natural rubber molecules into various products for limitless prosperity and national development.”

Besides, Prof. Malomo, who delivered 18th Inaugural Lecture of the Federal University Oye Ekiti (FUOYE), Nigeria said there were huge financial benefits deposited in the “application of natural rubber in latex and solid forms” should the federal government explore enormous revenue accruable from polymer industrial sector for a drive towards industrial revolution and infinite prosperity.

In the lecture, entitled “Natural Rubber: From Molecules to Products and Prosperity,” Prof. Malomo said it was time the Federal Government drifted from over-reliance on oil to “Wonder-Cash Crops” with a view to tapping into “industrial revolution” for national development.

While disecting polymerization as a process through which “monomers are converted to a polymer,” Prof. Malomo believed that there was still hope for Nigeria if the Federal Government would shift focus from over-reliance on oil to the “golden cash crops with amazing technical benefits in modern engineering world and medicine.”
