    FUOYE RISES IN 2026 TIMES HIGHER EDUCATION SUSTAINABILITY IMPACT RANKINGS, EMERGES AMONG NIGERIA’S TOP UNIVERSITIES

    The Federal University Oye-Ekiti has recorded another remarkable achievement on the global stage, earning a place among Nigeria’s leading universities in the prestigious 2026 Times Higher Education (THE) Sustainability Impact Rankings.

    The University advanced significantly from its 2025 global band of 1501+ to the 1001–1500 category, attaining an overall score of 33.1–53.6. This impressive performance places FUOYE among the 6th best-ranked universities in Nigeria, alongside renowned institutions including Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN), Pan-Atlantic University, Nile University, Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike (MOUAU), Maryam Abacha American University of Nigeria (MAAUN), and Babcock University.

    The latest ranking reflects FUOYE’s growing commitment to sustainable development through impactful teaching, research, innovation, community engagement, and institutional governance.

    Across the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the University recorded commendable performances. FUOYE ranked within the 601–800 global band for SDG 1 (No Poverty) and achieved an even stronger placement of 401–600 for SDG 2 (Zero Hunger). The University was ranked 1001+ for SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being), 601–800 for SDG 7 (Affordable and Clean Energy), 801–1000 for SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), and 601–800 in SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure), SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities), and SDG 13 (Climate Action). Additionally, FUOYE was placed in the 1001–1500 global band for SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals), underscoring its commitment to strategic collaborations and global engagement.

    Reacting to the achievement, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor J. O. Ogunwole, commended the University’s remarkable improvement in the global rankings, describing it as a testament to the collective dedication, resilience, and commitment of the University’s staff and stakeholders. He reaffirmed the University’s resolve to continue strengthening its contributions to sustainable development through excellence in teaching, research, innovation, and community impact.

    Also commenting on the achievement, the Director of Innovation and Digital Technology, Professor O. S. Ayanda, applauded the dedication and commitment of the University Innovation and Digital Technology Team throughout the data collection and submission process. He expressed profound appreciation to the Director of ICT, Mr. Samson Durojaiye, and the Registrar’s Office—particularly the Personnel Office (Mr Afeni Ayodele) and the Academic Affairs Unit—for their invaluable support, timely provision of institutional data, and effective coordination, all of which contributed significantly to the University’s improved global standing.

    The University Management congratulates the entire FUOYE community on this milestone and reiterates its commitment to continuous improvement, global competitiveness, and sustainable institutional development.
