It’s good news for graduates wishing to pursue professional post graduate degrees in relevant fields as the School of Postgraduate Studies, Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE) has commenced a business school for various professional post graduate programmes for the 2023/2024 academic season.
The FUOYE Business School Ado-Ekiti is a dream of the progressively minded Vice-Chancellor of the University, Prof. Abayomi Sunday Fasina, which he promised as part of his plans to make the institution a 21st century University with positive and progressive impact on its immediate environment and the world at large.
According to a press statement signed by the University’s Registrar, Mr. Mufutau Ibrahim and made available to the university media team at the weekend by the Secretary, FUOYE “s School of Post Graduate Studies (SPGS), Mr. Olusola Taiwo, the FUOYE Business School Ado-Ekiti has started accepting applications for admissions into professional post graduate programmes in three departments which are Business Administration, Finance and Public Administration.
The statement reads in part: “Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for admission into the Professional Postgraduate Programmes of the School for 2023/2024 Academic Session as indicated below:
Dept. of Business Administration PGDM, MBA (eMBA) & DBA
Dept. of Finance PGDFM, MBF
Dept. of Public Administration PGDPA, MPA, DPA
Full name of Degrees:
a. PGDM: Post Graduate Diploma in Management
b. MBA (eMBA): Masters of Business Administration (Executive Masters of Business Administration)
c. DBA: Doctor of Business Administration
d. PGDFM: Post Graduate Diploma in Financial Management
e. MBF: Masters of Banking and Finance
f. PGDPA: Post Graduate Diploma in Public Administration
g. MPA: Masters of Public Administration
h. DPA: Doctor of Public Administration
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS:
a. PGDM: Postgraduate Diploma in Management (9 Months)
The requirements/criteria for admission into the PGDM programme are:
A degree in any discipline obtained from a recognized University or an acceptable equivalent qualification, coupled with a minimum of one-year post-graduation experience. Holders of HND holders of any discipline from a recognized Polytechnic with not lower than Credit pass and Third class degree or changing of discipline may also apply.
b. MBA (eMBA): (18 Months)
The requirements/criteria for admission into the MBA programme are:
i) All candidates must have five credit passes including English and Mathematics at the ‘O’ Level, as basic requirement.
ii) Candidates with Bachelors degree from an approved university must obtain a minimum of second class lower division.
iii) All candidates must have a minimum of one year managerial/administrative experience.
iv) All candidates must have attained a satisfactory level of performance in the university’s admission test and interview.
v) All candidates must have demonstrated adequate intellectual capacity, professionalism, maturity and effective decision – making and problem solving potentials during the university’s admission test and interview.
vi) Candidates with Postgraduate Diploma from a recognized university and who have passed with a minimum of Upper Credit may also be considered for admission provided the university’s matriculation requirements are satisfied.
vii) Candidates with good quantitative background and some basic knowledge of Economics will be an added advantage.
viii) Holders of HND and/or professional qualification in administration disciplines are eligible for admission but must go through a mandatory nine months postgraduate diploma in the University provided they meet the basic University entry qualification.
c. DBA: Doctor of Business Administration ( 3 Sessions)
The requirements/criteria for admission into the DBA programme are:
i) Master of Science (M.Sc. Business Administration) or Masters of Business Administration (MBA) or any other relevant Masters Degree from Federal University Oye-Ekiti or any other recognized university in Nigeria or overseas.
ii) Holders of relevant Masters Degree with a minimum of ten (10) years experience in administration/ management may be considered on a modular platform.
iii) In addition, such a candidate may be required to submit a consent note (written proposal) to the Department.
d. PGDFM: Post Graduate Diploma in Financial Management (9 Months)
The requirements/criteria for admission into the PGDFM programme are:
A degree in Finance or Banking and Finance or any other relevant disciplines such as Economics, Commerce, Accounting, Business Administration or Management, from Federal University, Oye-Ekiti or any other recognized university in Nigeria or overseas (with at least a Third Class) or a degree obtained from a recognized University or an acceptable equivalent qualification, coupled with a minimum of one-year post-graduation experience. Holders of HND of any discipline from a recognized Polytechnic with not less than Credit pass and Third class degree or changing of discipline may also apply.
e. MBF: Masters of Banking and Finance (18 Months)
The requirements/criteria for admission into Masters of Banking and Finance (MBF) programmes are:
i) Bachelors honours degree (at least Second Class, Lower Division) in Finance, Banking and Finance, Economics, Commerce, Accounting, Business Administration or Management or any other relevant discipline from Federal University Oye-Ekiti or any other recognized university in Nigeria or overseas.
ii) A post-graduate diploma in Banking and Finance/ or Finance or Financial Management from Federal University Oye-Ekiti or any other recognized university in Nigeria or overseas
iii) Bachelors honours degree in other Finance related discipline from Federal University Oye-Ekiti or any other recognized university in Nigeria or overseas with a professional qualification in Accounting, Banking & Finance, Marketing, Insurance and Stockbroking, such as ACA, ACCA, JCMA, CIBN,CACTS or MBA.
Note: Candidates may be required to undergo a selection process.
f. MPA: Masters of Public Administration (18 Months)
The requirements/criteria for admission into the PGDFM programme are:
i) Bachelors honours degree ( at least Second Class, Lower Division) in Public Administration, Business Administration or any other relevant Management Science field of study from Federal University Oye-Ekiti or any other recognized university in Nigeria or overseas
ii) A post-graduate diploma in Management, Administration, Financial Management or any other relevant Post-graduate from Federal University Oye-Ekiti or any other recognized university in Nigeria or overseas
iii) Bachelors honours degree in any other administration related discipline from Federal University Oye-Ekiti or any other recognized university in Nigeria or overseas with a relevant professional qualification.
g. DPA: Doctor of Public Administration (3 Sessions)
The requirements/criteria for admission into the PGDFM programme are:
i) Master of Science (M.Sc. Public Administration) or Masters of Public Administration (MPA) or any other relevant Masters Degree from Federal University Oye-Ekiti or any other recognized university in Nigeria or overseas with GPA of 3.5 and above on a 5-scale point.
ii) Holders of relevant Masters Degree with a minimum of ten (10) years experience in public sector administration/ management may be considered on a modular platform.
iii) In addition, such candidates may be required to submit a consent note (written proposal) to the Department.
6-Month Specialised Certificate Programmes (CCs) are also available: These are non-degree short-circuit certificate courses and require only WASCE O’Level or NABTEB.
OTHER INFORMATION-
Applicants are to note that, a Programme automatically lapses at the expiration of the maximum duration for each Programme. However, a candidate may apply for an extension of not more than 12 months in the case of higher professional post graduate degrees or not more than 3 months for certificate courses.
Candidates in regular employment must submit with their applications, formal letter of release for postgraduate studies issued by their employers.
Also, all applicants who are not graduates of the Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE) must request their former Universities or institutions to forward directly to the Secretary, School of Postgraduate Studies the academic transcripts of their First Degrees or Master’s degree with respect to applicants for Master’s and Doctoral Degrees, respectively.
