The Registrar of the Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE), Mr. Muftau Adesina Ibrahim, has announced a series of far-reaching administrative and academic reforms aimed at strengthening the University’s governance structure, improving service delivery, enhancing staff welfare, and promoting institutional excellence.

The Registrar made the disclosures during a meeting with senior administrators and staff due for promotion, where he briefed attendees on recent decisions of the University Management and Governing Council.
A major highlight of the meeting was the announcement that the University will officially commence its College System in October 2026. He explained that the existing faculties would remain intact, while the new arrangement would introduce five colleges, each headed by a Provost, who will be a senior professor. The current Deans will continue to oversee their respective faculties under the supervision of the Provosts.
According to the new structure, the College of Agriculture and Engineering will comprise the Faculties of Agriculture, Engineering, Environmental Design and Management Sciences, and Computer and Information Science. The College of Medicine and Pharmacy will consist of the Faculties of Basic Medical Sciences, Clinical Medicine, and Pharmacy. The College of Arts, Social Sciences and Management will accommodate the Faculties of Arts, Social Sciences, and Management Sciences. The College of Sciences will comprise the Faculties of Computing, Life and Physical Sciences, while the College of Education, Communication and Multidisciplinary Studies will include the Faculties of Education, Communication and Media Studies, and Multidisciplinary Studies.

The Registrar further explained that each college would have a Deputy Registrar serving as its Administrative Officer, performing the statutory responsibilities of the Registrar at the college level to ensure efficient administration.
” This would also help the heavy work coming to the office of the Registrar at the central to be alleviated” Mr Ibrahim added
In another significant development, he announced that the Governing Council on the recommendation of the University Management had approved the restructuring of the Personnel Affairs Division into two specialised divisions. The Human Resource Management Division will oversee staff appointments, documentation, promotions, deployment, redeployment, leave administration, staff records and related personnel matters. The newly created Human Resource Development Division will be responsible for staff development, manpower planning, workforce needs assessment, staff-student ratio, training programmes, development plans, and advisory functions on human capital development.

Similarly, the Academic Affairs Division will be unbundled into two separate divisions to improve operational efficiency. The Senate Affairs Division will coordinate Senate meetings, prepare Senate papers, minutes and committee documentation, while the Academic Records and Admissions Division will handle students’ academic records, admissions, transcripts and other related responsibilities.
The Registrar also disclosed plans to establish a professional training institute for staff seeking conversion into the Administrative Cadre. He explained that prospective staff who have written several memos to the management would undergo a six-month training programme at an affordable cost, after which they would be assessed for possible conversion. A three-man committee has already been constituted to develop the framework for the institute.

On infrastructure development, Mr. Ibrahim announced that both the Registry and Bursary Departments would soon relocate to the new Administrative Building situated beside the Senate Building, a move expected to enhance operational efficiency and service delivery.
Speaking on ethics and accountability, the Registrar frowned and reiterated the University’s zero-tolerance policy against extortion and all forms of corrupt practices. He warned that the current administration, under the pilot ship of Professor Joshua Olalekan Ogunwole would not condone any act capable of tarnishing the institution’s reputation, stressing that the Governing Council had approved severe sanctions, including dismissal, for any staff found guilty of extorting students or members of the public.

“Don’t collect money from any students,it’s now an offence to extort anyone on campus.please , do not engage in it, this is my kind advice for you” He warned
He therefore urged all administrators to remain diligent, transparent and professional in the discharge of their responsibilities, emphasizing that integrity remains one of the core values of the University.

As part of efforts to strengthen institutional capacity, the Registrar announced that the University would commence the recruitment of outstanding first-class graduates produced by FUOYE. He explained that, subject to available vacancies and financial resources, the University intends to employ about 70 per cent of its best graduating students as part of its strategy to retain exceptional talents.
In his words ” If you have anyone who graduated from this university with first class when it’s time to commence the exercise ,please let us know “
He further disclosed that the University had secured approval for a ₦150 million loan to develop a commercial agriculture enterprise at Erinmope Ekiti, Moba Local Government Area of Ekiti State, describing the initiative as a strategic investment aimed at boosting agricultural production, enhancing internally generated revenue and supporting practical learning.
On staff welfare, Mr. Ibrahim conveyed the Vice-Chancellor’s commitment to improving the well-being of employees in the University. He stated that the Vice Chancellor is exploring the possibility of paying a 13th-month salary whenever financial resources permit, noting that the initiative forms part of the Vice-Chancellor’s broader vision of motivating staff and rewarding productivity.
The meeting also featured a brief presentation by a Principal Assistant Registrar, Mr. Usman Emmanuel Adohoje, who enlightened the Administrators on the activities and professional relevance of the National Institute of Management (NIM), emphasized that membership of the institute is compulsory for administrative officers as part of their professional development.

He urged interested administrators to join the institute.
The interactive session concluded with questions and observations from administrators, which the Registrar addressed comprehensively, while reaffirming Management’s commitment to institutional reforms, accountability, staff development and the continued growth of the Federal University Oye-Ekiti.
