    Goodnews! FUOYE Centre for Gender Studies empowers female students on AI skills, certification

    It is heartwarming news for every female student of the Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE), as the institution’s Centre for Gender Studies (CGS) has concluded plans to ensure certification and empowernment for the female students on Artificial intelligence (Al). Al is renowned as a foremost ICT skill that is needed by every scholar to catch up with the demands and dynamics of sound and functional education in the 21st century.

    Acting Director of the FUOYE Centre for Gender Studies, Dr. (Mrs.) Oluwatosin Kooshima Tume, disclosed the laudable development in a statement made available to the University Media team on Monday. Dr. Tume’s statement reads in part:
    “The Centre for Gender Studies, Federal University Oye-Ekiti is pleased to announce a collaboration with QEDA, UNICEF, Microsoft and the Ekiti State Ministry of Education to implement an empowerment initiative tagged Partnership of Earning (P2E) activity for female students.

    “The project which will hold virtually throughout November involves free virtual training for FUOYE female students on Digital Literacy and AI. The programme is designed to equip female students with relevant AI digital skills that are aligned with global opportunities. Students can access the programme on their mobile phones, laptops and other digital devices anywhere.

    “The participating students will receive training on AI Foundation, Generative AI and Generative AI, to be facilitated by Quality Education Development Associates (QEDA) team. At the end of the training, participants will receive certificates authorized by Microsoft, UNICEF, and Federal Ministry of Education,” she notes.

    Urging the University community to ensure that every female student on campus benefits from the rare opportunity to equip themselves with Al skills and certification, Dr. Time, said: “Let us kindly compel our students to benefit from this opportunity.
