The National Universities Commission (NUC) has accredited new academic programmes for the Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE) at both the undergraduate and post graduate levels.
The newly accredited graduate programmes is Agribusiness Management which is now available for candidates wishing to pursue masters, post graduate Diplomas and Doctorate degrees in the field.
Newly accredited undergraduate programmes which are now available in FUOYE’s Centre for Continuing Education (CCE) are Biochemistry and Microbiology.
The CCE is already offering academic programmes in the faculties of Arts, Social Sciences, Agriculture and Management Sciences. The newly accredited academic programmes of Biochemistry and Microbiology are in the faculty of Science. Interested candidates could assess the courses via the FUOYE part time link on the University portal, www.fuoye.edu.ng
It could be recalled that no fewer than 38 graduate programmes are now available for prospective post graduate students at the Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE). This is good news for every young and middle age Nigerians interested in furthering their education beyond the undergraduate level.
A press release made available to the University Media team recently by the Secretary, FUOYE School of Post Graduate Studies (SPGS), Mr. Olusola O. Taiwo, and signed by the University’s Registrar, Mr. Mufutau Ibrahim, disclosed that the graduate courses are available at various levels of Post Graduate Diploma (PGD), Master ‘s degree, Master of Philosophy (Mphil/Ph.D and Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) respectively.
The release reads in part: “Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for admission into the Postgraduate Programmes of the School for 2023/2024 Academic Session as indicated below: courses available in the faculty of Agriculture are; Agricultural Economics and Extension (PGD, M.Sc. & Ph.D); Agric. Economics (PGD, M.Sc. & Ph.D), Agric. Extension (PGD, M.SC & Ph.D);Animal Production & Health (M.Sc & Ph.D); Crop Science & Horticulture
(M.Sc & Ph.D); Fisheries & Aquaculture
(M.Sc & Ph.D) ; Food Science and Technology (M.Sc & Ph.D); Soil Science & Land Resources Management (M.Sc & Ph.D); and Water Resources and Agro-Meteorology (M.Sc & Ph.D).
The Faculty of Education now offers Library and Information Science (MLIS & Ph.D), just as the Faculty of Management has Accounting and Business Administration at Accounting at PGD, M.Sc. & Ph.D levels. The Faculty of Science has courses such as Animal and Environmental Biology,Biochemistry, Computer Science, Geology, Geophysics, Industrial Chemistry, Mathematics, Microbiology, Physics and Plant Science and Biotechnology all at M.Sc & Ph.D levels.
The Faculty of Social Sciences now boasts of post graduate programmes in courses such as Demography and Social Statistics, Economics, Peace and Conflict Studies, and Political Science all at PDG, M.Sc and Ph.D levels while it also has Psychology and Sociology all at M.SC & Ph.D levels just as the newly created Faculty of Mass Communication and Media Studies now has Mass Communication at
M.Sc & Ph.D levels. “
The statement further informs that admission for Ph.D programmes are
available to holders of Master Degrees, with a minimum of 60% score in their Master degree programmes while M.Phil /Ph.D. programmes are for Candidates who score between 55.00% and 59.99% Cumulative Weighted Average (CWA) at Master’s level.
For Master’s degree courses, candidates must have made a minimum of Second Class (Lower Division) in his/her Bachelor’s degree.
