It was pomp on November 14, 2022, as principal officers of the Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE) were garlanded with awards which recognized their excellent performance running the managerial affairs of one of the fastest-growing Ivory Towers in Nigeria with utmost dedication and commitment since the inauguration of the Prof. Abayomi Sunday Fasina led administration on February 11, 2021.

The honour came from the Centre for Ethics and Self Value Orientation, an independent institution which dedicates itself to independently investigating activities of public institutions with a view to ensuring probity, accountability, integrity, transparency and equity, among other values.
Having found the institution worthy of providing excellent service for the students and other stakeholders, the Centre awarded FUOYE a gold medal and declared that it ranked as one of the best of the Ivory Towers in Nigeria .
For leading FUOYE into such an enviable height within a short period of his administration, the Centre honoured the VC, Prof. Fasina with the “Excellence in Integrity Icon award” in recognition of what was described as the VC’s uncommon and excellent leadership skills, simplicity and soundness of character.
According to the Centre’s Executive Director, Prince Salih Yakubu, Prof. Fasina scored well above 70 marks in character and integrity as well as other leadership skills and has brought these attributes to bear in managing FUOYE.
He added that these uncommon attributes of the VC have made him achieve great feats in spite of the daunting challenges of the paucity of funds, some hostile stakeholders, and others facing the institution.
His words: “One of the most shocking things in the course of our investigation was a series of numerous achievements of the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Abayomi Sunday Fasina being recorded in less than two years in office.
“We are impressed with what we saw here at the Federal University Oye Ekiti under your leadership.
“This is why we have found you outstanding and worthy of the award. “And today it’s a privilege and honour to confer on you the title of Integrity Icon of Nigeria (IION).
“We have the certificate of credence which ranks this university among the top ten highly rated corruption-free and most ethically responsible Federal University.
“Prof Fasina scored about 70 marks in Character and integrity as well as other leadership skills and has brought the attributes to bear in administering FUOYE.”

Vice-Chancellor
To further assist the institution in instilling leadership skills into staff members and students for optimal performance, the Centre offered to train 200 students and staff of FUOYE adding that the institution deserves the gesture having performed admirably well in the last two years.
Responding, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Abayomi Sunday Fasina commended the efforts of CESVO’s director and his team. He said the honour will inspire him more in his determination to make FUOYE one of the best universities in the 21st century.
The VC said:
