In a heart-warming moment that reaffirmed the Federal University Oye-Ekiti’s (FUOYE’s) commitment to recognizing and rewarding outstanding academic performance, a scholarship pledge by the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of Council, Senator Victor Ndoma-Egba, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria was formally fulfilled and presented to Miss Olatunji Jumoke.
Jumoke is one of FUOYE’s brilliant and notably youngest students, now in her 200 level in the Department of Linguistics and Languages.
The presentation took place on November 19, 2025.
The scholarship had been pledged few months ago during the university’s last convocation ceremony, held at the 1,000-capacity hall by the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of Council, Senator Victor Ndoma- Egba, when Jumoke was in her 100 level.
This week, that promise was fulfilled amidst commendable zeal and ceremony.
However, the award was presented at the office of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration), Professor Tajudeen Opoola, who acted on behalf of Senator Ndoma-Egba and the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Abayomi Sunday Fasina.
During the presentation, Prof. Opoola said “on behalf of the Pro-Chancellor, Senator Ndoma-Egba, and the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Abayomi Sunday Fasina, I present this scholarship to you. You are our proud product.”
Miss Jumoke, who currently holds an impressive CGPA of 4.24, received the scholarship with joy and deep appreciation.
Meanwhile, she expressed gratitude to the institution’s management and staff for their unwavering support and belief in her potential.
She said: “I want to thank and appreciate the FUOYE authority from the Pro-Chancellor, Senator Ndoma-Egba; the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Abayomi Sunday Fasina; the Deputy Vice-Chancellors; members of management; academic and non-academic staff for everything you have done.
“Thank you for this scholarship. I promise to make good use of it, and I will not disappoint the University.”
The event further highlighted FUOYE’s dedication to nurturing excellence and providing an enabling environment for students to thrive.
It also served as a reminder of how timely encouragement can inspire young scholars to soar to even greater heights.
With her humility, determination, and sterling academic record, Jumoke stands as a shining example of FUOYE’s vision; students who are brilliant, diligent, and destined for greatness.
Among those in attendance were the University Registrar, Mr. Mufutau Ibrahim, and the University Bursar, Dr. (Mrs.) Debo-Ajagunna.
