    Prof. Fasina Unveils New, Renewed Appointments across FUOYE Directorates

    In a strategic move to enhance the Federal University Oye Ekiti’s (FUOYE) administrative capabilities, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Abayomi Sunday Fasina has appointed 30 Directors to oversee various Directorates and units.

    The appointments, which included new and renewed tenures were made following approval from the university’s newly inaugurated Governing Council.

    The announcement was made during the 67th Senate meeting, where Professor Fasina emphasized the importance of immediate action, urging the newly appointed Directors to assume their roles with full dedication.

    Each Directorate has been assigned clear terms of reference to ensure streamlined operations and optimal performance.

    Among those appointed were Professor Segun Fakayode, whose term as Director of the Institute for Food Security and Commercial Agriculture was renewed, was tasked with advancing the university’s role in national food security efforts.

    His leadership will focus on integrating teaching, research, and agricultural transformation to promote self-sufficiency within the institution and beyond.

    Professor Olusola J. Ojo, a former Deputy Vice-Chancellor has been appointed as the Director of the Consultancy Unit, effective from September 2024.

    His role will include leveraging the university’s human resources to provide consultancy services and engage with the public to explore professional opportunities.

    Dr. Olusola Ayanda, from the Department of Chemistry, has been named the Director of Innovation and Educational Technology, where he will work to harness global technological advancements to foster innovation and development within the university.

    In a similar capacity,
    Dr. Omosolape Owoseni from the Department of Psychology will head the Counselling and Human Development Centre. Dr. Owoseni’s role includes providing career guidance to students and addressing the psychological needs of both students and the staff.

    Other notable appointments included Professor Sunday A. Adedini as Director of Strategic Partnerships, Linkages, and Collaborations.

    In his new role, Prof. Adedini will oversee the coordination of partnerships and international collaborations, ensuring that FUOYE builds strategic synergies with global institutions.

    His expertise will be pivotal in driving the university’s engagement with external stakeholders, fostering collaborative research, and broadening its academic and professional networks.

    While Professor Gbenga E. Olumayede as Director of the Centre for Energy Research, will lead the university’s efforts in renewable energy research and development.

    Professor Olubukola M. Oyawoye’s appointment as Director of the Directorate of Advancement Centre at the Federal University Oye Ekiti (FUOYE) has been renewed for another year.

    Prof. Oyawoye will continue to enhance the development operations of the university by organizing advancement programmes and expanding a reliable donor base to promote philanthropic support for the institution.

    Her strategic leadership is expected to foster lasting relationships that contribute to FUOYE’s growth and sustainability.

    Dr. Adeleke Omolade’s appointment as Acting Director of the Institute of Part-Time Studies at FUOYE has been renewed for another year.

    Dr. Omolade will continue to oversee the coordination and supervision of all activities related to the university’s Part-Time programmes.

    His role includes ensuring that the programme maintains its high standards while offering flexible learning opportunities to meet the educational needs of Part-Time students.

    Dr. Abiodun M. Lawal’s appointment as Director of the Psychological Services Clinic at FUOYE has been renewed.

    Dr. Lawal will continue to provide mental health support and treatment to both the staff and the students.

    His role encompasses offering comprehensive mental health assessments, promoting mental well-being, and raising awareness about the importance of mental health within the university community.

    Professor Sylvia Uzochukwu’s appointment as Director of the Gender Centre at FUOYE has been renewed.

    Prof. Uzochukwu will continue her advocacy for gender-related issues within the university and the local community.

    Her work will focus on integrating gender considerations into policy development and promoting intellectual discussions on gender equality, ensuring that gender sensitivity remains central to the university’s operations and outreach programmes.

    Professor Olusola E. Abolarin has been appointed Director of Project Monitoring and Environmental Services at FUOYE.

    In this capacity, Prof. Abolarin will be responsible for overseeing ongoing projects at both the Oye and Ikole Ekiti campuses.

    He will provide comprehensive situational reports on the state of the university environment and make recommendations where necessary, ensuring efficient project execution and environmental sustainability.

    Professor Adesoji M. Olaniyan’s appointment as Director of Quality Assurance at FUOYE has been renewed.

    In this role, Prof. Olaniyan will continue to coordinate all quality assurance activities within the university, ensuring adherence to the institution’s policies and standards. His work will focus on monitoring the implementation of FUOYE’s Quality Assurance policy and ensuring compliance with national and international standards to maintain academic excellence.

    Several other Directors had their tenures renewed, such as Mr. Samson Durojaye, Acting Director of Information and Communication Technology (ICT), who will continue to manage the institution’s ICT infrastructure, and Professor Olayide S. Lawal, Director of Research and Development, who will work to secure funding for university-sponsored research.

    As part of the renewed appointments, Dr. Adebimpe O. Esan will continue her role as Acting Director of the Entrepreneurship Directorate, while Dr. Abiodun M. Lawal will provide mental health services as Director of the Psychological Services Clinic.

    The new and renewed Directors are expected to begin implementing the university’s blueprint for excellence, with a focus on fostering innovation, sustainability, and academic growth, ensuring that FUOYE remains a reference point in higher education and research.
