    By Wole Balogun

The Management of the Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE), has sponsored another leadership training for the 2020/2021Student Union Senate Council of the upwardly mobile Ivory Tower.

The programme was organized by the Prof. Dosu Malomo led Students’ Affairs division of FUOYE. According to Prof. Malomo, who is the Dean, Students Affairs, the second training in leadership which is being held at a resort outside Ekiti State, is the first of its kind in the history of FUOYE. He said the training was graciously sponsored by the Vice-Chancellor (VC) , Prof. Abayomi Sunday Fasina, in order to equip the student leaders on more leadership skills in managing the affairs of the teeming students in a manner devoid of rancour and violent activities.

Prof. Malomo said: ” Our VC ,Proff. A. S Fasina loves his children, the students, so much that he always offers the best to them. On the students leaders’ assumption of office for the 2020/2021 academic session, the VC had sponsored a leadership training for them which held at a resort in Ekiti State. This second training on leadership is another initiative of our amiable Vice-Chancellor, which he brought on board in order to ensure that our dynamic student leaders enjoyed two things, first, they are given leadership training that would make them better leaders here on campus and in the larger society when they graduate. Iin this light, they will receive leadership training that would make them lead the students in a way devoid of any violent activity that can truncate the smooth running of the academic calendar of the University and which will at the same time, make them achieve all their manifestoes as leaders of their fellow students of FUOYE.

“The second leg of the training is to ensure that the resources persons who are training them would provide mentorship for them as they serve as role models to these students. The resource persons are trail blazers and dynamic achievers in their respective fields of human endeavours and so they are automatically role models to these students,” he said.

The training on leadership is a three day programme which kicked off with an opening ceremony on Wednesday, December 22 at the Miccom Golf Hotel and Resort in Ada, Osun State.

Resource persons that are providing the training for the student leaders include Barrister Ebun-Olu Adegboruwa (SAN) Dr. Adeniran Tella, top functionaries from the Ekiti State Government and some members of the Senate from FUOYE.
