    VC, Fasina assures 576 PG students of timely completion of programmes

    The Vice-Chancellor, Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE), Ekiti State, Nigeria, Professor Abayomi Sunday Fasina has assured no fewer than 576 students of the university’s School of Postgraduate Studies (SPGS) that FUOYE under his watch would ensure timely completion of their programmes as they took oath of allegiance to the university.

    Besides, the Vice-Chancellor charged the students to jealously guide against tenets of their matriculation oath as being administered on them by the university Registrar, Mr. Mufutau Ibrahim.

    The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Fasina said this at the 5th Matriculation ceremony of the School of Postgraduate Studies and third in the tenure of the Professor Abayomi Sunday Fasina-led administration.

    At a full-capacity lecture theatre, Faculty of Science, FUOYE, Oye campus, Professor Fasina, who was ably represented by his Deputy Vice-Chancellor Administration, Professor Tajudeen Bolanle Opoola, applauded the matriculating students, describing them as “very fortunate to be a part of the matriculating students” as of “691 applicants for our various Postgraduate programmes of 2023/2024 of which 576 were admitted.”

    This, the Vice-Chancellor said was a testimony to the development of “our Postgraduate programmes in FUOYE.”

    While describing the vision of School of Postgraduate Studies and FUOYE as a lofty one geared towards producing innovative great minds, Professor Fasina said he had no doubt in his mind that products of the Postgraduate Studies would nonetheless address challenges facing “our nation, Nigeria at this period.”

    Professor Fasina said: “Today’s event is important because it marks the official enrolment of the matriculating students in the various Postgraduate programmes of the Federal University Oye-Ekiti. It will be germane for me to mention that this is a student-centered university where students will be exposed to robust research and academic excellence that will make our students stand tall among their contemporaries anywhere in the world.

    “Having taken your choice to further your study in FUOYE, it is a clear indication that you believe in the quality of teaching, learning, and research being offered in this university. No doubt your choice will give you an exciting academic experience during your stay on your programmes. I say, thank you for making the right choice and for the confidence you have in FUOYE.

    ” FUOYE has now come of age. It has a strategic vision to offer the best in cutting-edge research and service delivery in Science, Arts, Entrepreneurial skills, Leadership and Management among others.

    “The university has showcased her drive for creativity and innovation on several fronts. This is in line with the motto of this university “INOVATION AND CHARACTER FOR NATIONAL TRANSFORMATION.”

    “This explains our rapid expansion from the last matriculation ceremony to nine faculties with the latest ones being the Faculties of Education, Management Sciences, Mass Communication and Media Studies, and Multi-Disciplinary Studies.

    “It may also interest you to know that the percentage of admitted students for this academic session stands at over 238% over the admitted students in the previous years. This is a clear testimony to the development of our Postgraduate programmes in FUOYE.

    “Hence, you should consider yourself fortunate to be part of the matriculating students today.

    “It is my pleasure to also inform you that the School of Postgraduate Studies convocated 87 students during the 2023 convocation ceremony.

    “In the just concluded convocation ceremony of 2024, the School of Postgraduate Studies produced 206 graduands, representing 237% graduands over and above the previous years.

    “This is a testimony to the fact that we cherish the time of our students and do not engage in delaying their graduation.

    “You are therefore assured of timely completion of your study as you diligently do your work.

    “As your Vice-Chancellor, I enjoin you to honour the tenets of the matriculation oath that will be administered on you by the Registrar of this university.”

    At the matriculation ceremony were the university Principal Officers.

    They were Deputy Vice-Chancellor Academics, Prof Olubunmi Shittu, University Registrar, Mr. Mufutau Adeshina Ibrahim, Bursar, Mrs. Adebolanle Adekemisola Debo-Ajagunna and the university Librarian, Dr. Isaac Busayo.

    Others were the Dean of Postgraduate Studies, Prof. Raphael Ajayi Omolehin and other Deans of Faculties, Head of Units and Directors.
