Astute and amiable Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE), Prof. Abayomi Sunday Fasina, has excited staff and students of the upwardly mobile University with promises of more incentives to work, greater infrastructural development and more conducive learning and teaching environment among other goodies in the new year.

Prof. Fasina however, urged the staff to tighten their belts as his strategies towards realizing a better FUOYE in the new year, demand a call to service on their part.

A message of hope, motivation and encouragement signed by the VC and entitled: *MY NEW YEAR MESSAGE – CALL TO SERVICE TOWARDS A BETTER FUOYE.”, which was personally sent to the University community’s social media platforms by him, reads in part:”Finally, 2024 is here with us and the long awaited year has landed like an eagle with various benefits and demands.

This is a special year starting on Monday, the first working day of the week which confirms the CALL TO SERVICE.

For the FUOYE family, this year is loaded with various Landmark Activities as well as the completion and consolidation of the agenda set by this administration three years ago when we came on board.

Firstly, is our forthcoming 8th Convocation Ceremony which is set to attract some members of the National Assembly including the Senate President, Senate Leader (MOB), some invited senators and Honorables who shall be honoured with various awards.

The Jamb Registrar Prof Isiaq Oloyede shall also be available to deliver the convocation lecture, the Ekiti State Governor and Traditional Leaders from Ekiti shall all be in attendance to grace this glorious event.

To have a successful outing better than what was delivered last year will require the involvement of all teaching and non teaching staff of the university, everyone is important and the central committee shall co-opt more staff to serve in various sub-committees, it’s a call to service, do well to work with all diligence whenever the CALL TO SERVICE is extended to you.
Secondly, the NUC accreditation continues for some faculties, I expect all the sections connected to this exercise to answer the CALL TO SERVICE, by giving their best for a successful outing.

Thirdly and also very importantly is the completion of the agenda set by this administration which includes the completion of the Faculty of Law main building, commencement of the University Senate Building, creation of additional faculties such as Faculty of Information and Computing, Innovation Hubs on both campuses, FUOYE shall be DIGITALIZED, just to mention a few.

On staff welfarism, I promise to continue on the good will we have built over the past three years by attending promptly to staff needs and doing my best to cushion the effect of fuel increase and high cost of living.

In the same vein I shall provide a conducive environment for all members of staff to achieve their career growth and goals.

Furthermore, there shall be specialized trainings for all sections of the university including the academics, bursary, registry and works department, this will improve the productivity of all the sectors.

Finally, I want to encourage all members of staff to live as a family, there should be no division amongst us, let’s shun gossips, backbiting and pull him down syndrome, remember divided we fall, UNITED WE STAND.

Our slogan this year shall be -: FUOYE TEAM, UNITED WE WIN.

I wish you all a happy and prosperous new year, no evil shall befall you or your family this year, you’ll succeed on all fronts in 2024.
    Happy New Year.
