The Acting Vice-Chancellor Federal University Oye Ekiti (FUOYE), Ekiti State, Nigeria, Prof. Olubunmi Shittu received four officials of the Federal Ministry of Education, who had come as visitation panelists to assess a series of developments in the ivory tower.
The Acting Vice-Chancellor acknowledged their visits just as he assured them of compliance with their observations and recommendations already being raised in accordance with the views of the Federal Government.
According to the Acting Vice-Chancellor, their observations and recommendations had received full compliance even as some were ongoing with a view to implementing them by the university management.
Besides, Professor Olubunmi Samuel Shittu assured the officials that while others were ongoing, the university was ready to fully comply with their observations and recommendations without much ado.
He said: “We’re glad to have you and we have noted all the observations raised even as we are ready to comply and implement those recommendations. “
Although we have complied substantially, we’re ready to fully comply with them in no distant time.
“I want to assure you that we’re very much ready to comply with the observations just as we will give you necessary support.”
However, the officials, who had come to monitor the level of FUOYE’s compliance with the views of the Federal Government on the report of visitation panel into the affairs of Federal Universities and inter-universities’ centers in Nigeria between 2011 and 2015 carried out their visitation panel exercise on FUOYE between June 22nd and 27th.
The visitation panelists, who conducted their monitoring on FUOYE’s level of compliance, appraised the university on why the “Governing Council should immediately commission specialist to access structural integrity of buildings and determine which ones require reconstruction, library, FUOYE Establishment Act 2015,students’ handbook of information, Students’ Disciplinary Committee of the Senate, internal audit among many others.
The visitation panelists were led by Dr. O. L Kareem.
Others were Mrs. G.L Otakagu, Engr. Gbenga Ojewole and Hajia Zainab Ibrahim. At the parley were the university’s Principal Officers and the members of various unions.
The Principal Officers were the Deputy Vice-Chancellor Administration, Professor Tajudeen Bolanle Opoola, Deputy Vice-Chancellor Strategic Partnership Research, Innovation and Linkages, Professor Joshua Olalekan Ogunwole, Registrar, Mr. Mufutau Ibrahim and Bursar, Mrs. Adekemisola Adebolanle Debo-Ajagunna.
The unions were the chairman, Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Dr. Fagbuagun. O Abayomi. ASUU treasurer, Dr. Salaudeen. L. Olayinka, NASU representative, Mr. Olorunfemi Taiwo, NAAT Chairman, Mr. Babafemi. O. Oluwasola, SSANU Vice-Chairman, Olausi. A. Simeon, SSANU PRO, Mr. Bamidele Eleniola, Chairperson CONUA, Dr. Awe Ene and PRO CONUA, Dr. Akan Kelvin.
