According to the President of the European Polysaccharide Network of Excellence, Professor Pedro Fardim of KU, Leuven, Belgium, the book donation to the University was in recognition of the research activities of the Macromolecular Chemistry Group in the Department of Chemistry led by Professor Olayide Lawal.
FUOYE was nominated for the book donation by the Institute for Organic Chemistry and Macromolecular Chemistry, Friedrich Schiller University, Jena, Germany (FSU).

This followed frantic efforts by the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Abayomi Fasina and the Director of Research, Professor O.S Lawal.
They, however, facilitated the collaboration and the partnership with FSU during a recent visit to research institutes in Germany.
The books cover multidisciplinary research/study areas in Faculties of Science, Social Science, Arts, Engineering and Agriculture.
Meanwhile, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Abayomi Sunday Fasina has directed that the books be moved to the University Library for the benefit of the University community.
