‘LET US BUILD FUOYE TOGETHER’, VC CHALLENGES ALUMNI

Vice Chancellor, Federal University Oye-Ekiti, Prof. Joshua Olalekan Ogunwole has called on the alumni of the institution to support his administration in lifting the university far higher than it is now, describing the former students as critical stakeholders in the FUOYE project.

“Let me tell you that you are critical stakeholders in FUOYE project. You are therefore expected to join hands with my administration so as to rebrand this university. There are a lot you can do in rebranding this university. Part of what you need to do is to be outstanding in your places of work. Work hard and be our good ambassadors in everywhere you find yourselves to the extent that people will be enthusiastic to know the university you attended”, Prof. Ogunwole said.

The Vice Chancellor who made these statements while receiving the Alumni Association of the university who paid him a courtesy call, emphasized that the alumni of the university had a major role to play in giving the university a positive image in the society with their achievements in their various places of work.

Represented by his Senior Technical Assistant, Prof. Adebola Adewunmi Aderibigbe, the Vice Chancellor remarked that alumni were expected to look back with a view to giving back to the university which made them, pointing out that they could come back to give lecture, assist the current students with useful information, provide linkages, and even donate to their school, stressing that government alone cannot fund education.

His words: “What my administration is determined to do now is to unfold a new face of FUOYE in which parents and public will be saying, if you want quality education, go to FUOYE. If you want good university education for your child, take him to FUOYE where there is no extortion and harassment of students. We want to give this university, a good name and reputation. But, I cannot do this alone without your input. While we are working internally here to restructure and repackage our image, you, as our alumni must also work hard out there in order to complement our efforts”

“Consequently, be our good ambassadors wherever you find yourselves. Be the best you can be in your various places of work. After your success, don’t forget the university which made you because the imprimatur of this university is on you wherever you go. Come back and lift the university which sharpened your teeth and gave you wings to fly”, Prof. Ogunwole stated, adding that, the alumni cannot afford to forget this beautiful university with uncommon intellectual flavour.

Responding, the President of the Association, Mr. Taiye Ojo who pledged the loyalty and commitment of the alumni to FUOYE, hinted that the Association was aggressively working on the data base of the former students in order to know who is where and what he does.
