Vice Chancellor, Federal University Oye Ekiti (FUOYE), Professor Joshua Olalekan Ogunwole has asserted that it was only discipline that could lift the university to higher heights, describing discipline as the halmark of any great institution.
Prof. Ogunwole who urged all staff members and students of the university to embrace discipline in all they do, stated that his desire was to make the University ‘first among its equals’ and also to set the pace for other Universities across the South West to emulate.
He emphasis that “no organisation rises above the quality of its discipline”. therefore urging FUOYE to take discipline as the very core strategy in whatsoever decisions they take, noting that the face of his administration will change the future of the University,
He spoke at the 87th Statutory Senate meeting if the institution held on Wednesday 5th August, 2026 at the Senate Chamber.
Professor Ogunwole admonished the academics staff to be upright before the students, noting that academic staff members were the leaders of the critical segment of the University.
The Vice Chancellor who restated his resolve to change the negative perception about FUOYE insisted that by the time his tenure elapses, there will be no more traces of aberrations linked to any faculties.
He advised the School of Post Graduate Studies to exercise oversight function over the students, reiterating that any student who fights in school should be expelled from the university forthwith
Reporting the success of the recent employability training for all the graduating students, the Director of Career Services, Prof Adebola Aderibigbe told the Senate that the success of the training was unquantifiable given the testimonies trailing the programme.

“Students who attended the programme were able to print out their Certificates online. This is a pointer that FUOYE is in a positive direction towards digitalisation” he said
The 87th Senate session witnessed the conduct of elections of Senate representatives to the University Governing Council.
The following Professors emerged to represent the Senate at the floor of Council viz; Professor Jeremiah Sola Omotola from Faculty of Social Science, emerged with a total of 133 votes.
Also, Professor Adesoji Olaniyan, the Dean, Faculty of Engineering clinched the representative ticket with a score of 111 votes and Professor Bolaji Adeniji Oladimeji from the Faculty of Agriculture with a score of 101 votes.
The Senate also had representative nomination into the University Appointment and Promotion Committee ( A&PC); and consequently,
Professor Ajiboye Bolaji Olaitan emerged as the Chairman, while Professors, Philip Nwosa, Olorunwa Omofunmi, and Ogunbusola Eunice Moriyike, respectively from the Faculty of Science, Engineering and Agriculture were members of the Committee
The Senate approved the discontinuance of unilateral requests for Extra Credit Unit by setting a minimum of 2 and maximum of 3 credit Units as bar
Senate also approved Summer School Examination, which should strictly be for failed final year students.
