The Vice-Chancellor Federal University Oye Ekiti, Ekiti State, Nigeria, Professor Abayomi Sunday Fasina has again reiterated his commitment to stepping up the university’s zero tolerance and punishment for an act of of anti-social behaviour capable of promoting and propagating social vices, saying he would not treat any student found culpable for cultism, sexual harassment, internet fraud and other social vices on campus with kid-glove.
Specifically, the Vice-Chancellor said he would not hesitate to wield the big stick on students caught propagating cultism, sexual harassment, advanced fee fraud, internet fraud and other anti-social vices.
Specifically, he said he would not hesitate to expel any student found guilty of cultism and other vices with a view to protecting the university rules and regulations with its zero tolerance mantra for any vice not in tandem with the corporate image of the university.
The Vice-Chancellor, who told no fewer than 8,737 newly admitted students at the 14th Matriculation Ceremony of the university, enjoined the matriculating students to shun vices, urging them to "respect our rules and regulations and be diligent in your studies."
At the matriculation ceremony alongside the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Abayomi Sunday Fasina were Deputy Vice-Chancellor Academics, Professor Olubunmi Samuel Shittu, Deputy Vice-Chancellor Administration, Professor Tajudeen Bolanle Opoola, the university Registrar, Mr. Mufutau Ibrahim represented by Head of Personnel, Mr. Sunday Akinkunmi, Bursar, Mrs. Adebolanle Adekemisola Debo-Ajagunna and the University Librarian, Professor Isaac Busayo.
However, the Vice-Chancellor also assured the matriculating students of a "formidable team to help you interpret your scripts and hone your skills" should they jealously guide their oath of allegiance to constituted authorities. He said: ” I am particularly delighted and grateful to God Almighty for this Matriculation Ceremony where at least 8,737 students will be matriculated across 13 Faculties of the University.
“As we all know, at the heart of the establishment of the university lies the non-negotiable objective of providing quality higher educational services and accessibility to the country’s growing youth population.
“Our beloved university has been living up to this responsibility in terms of faculty and new academic programmes despite global constraints.
“Consequently, the university has progressively established itself as an undisputable centre of attraction for prospective students across all the states of the federation.
"Little wonder that in the latest JAMB subscription ranking, our university ranked as third most- subscribed university in Nigeria with over 54,410 applicants, beating first and second generation universities. ” In between, respect our rules and regulations and be diligent in your studies.

” Our university has zero tolerance for these and other related social vices.”
