The Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE) is set to hold its 20th Inaugural Lecture, which will focus on advancing sustainable civil infrastructure through innovative use of agricultural wastes.
The lecture, titled “Resiliency in Developing Resilient and Sustainable Structural Concrete Materials for Sustainable Civil Infrastructure, from Agricultural Wastes,” will be delivered by Professor Christopher Ajiboye Fapohunda, a distinguished Professor of Civil/Structural Engineering at FUOYE.
According to the official invitation released by the university, the event will take place on November 20th, 2025, at 2:00 p.m., in the New 1000-Sitting Capacity Auditorium of the institution’s main campus.

Professor Fapohunda, a Fellow of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) and a registered engineer with COREN, has built an impressive career advancing sustainable engineering practices through the use of locally sourced materials and waste recycling. His forthcoming lecture is expected to provide groundbreaking insights into the development of sustainable concrete using agricultural by-products, a move that could significantly reduce environmental impact and construction costs.
FUOYE’s inaugural lectures continue to serve as a platform for professors to share their academic and research contributions with the university community and the public, fostering a culture of innovation, scholarship, and sustainable development.
