The management of Federal University, Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE) has refuted fake news published by a faceless blogger saying the university has been shut down on account of bandits invasion.
In a statement issued by the Director of Public Affairs and Communication, Dr. Sunday Saanu, the management described the news as baseless and fictitious, saying there’s no security threat in the university, as academic activities are going on smoothly.
One FS Yusuf through his X handle @FS Yusuff had published fake news, saying “FUOYE is shutting down as students are told to stay home due to continuos bandits attack”
Dr. Saanu urged students, parents and guardians to disregard the useless information, pointing out that “this is one of the antics of some lazy minds looking for traffic on social media in order to get money”
According to Dr. Saanu, ” There has never been a bandits attack in FUOYE. We are safe in FUOYE. There is no cause for the alarm. It’s a pity that some people get insidious pleasure in spreading fake news, deriving joy in causing panic among the public”
